Alternative education support

Part-time support and mentoring for children and young people who are out of school or need a different way back into learning.

Please don't include detailed medical information in a first email. We'll arrange a secure way to share it.

About this service

Some children and young people cannot manage a full school day right now. Our support workers provide sessions that help them re-engage: building routines and confidence, working on interests and practical skills, and supporting the learning plan agreed with their school or local authority.

Packages are part-time and arranged with the school or local authority, which keeps responsibility for the young person's education. We work to their plan, share progress and help with the steps back into school, college or training.

Every package is led by a paramedic who oversees safeguarding and risk, and you get a record of every session.

What this looks like

  • Part-time sessions, in the community or at a learning venue
  • Mentoring that builds routine, confidence and motivation
  • Support with the work set by the school or tutor
  • Practical and life skills, linked to the young person's interests
  • Regular progress updates for the school and the family

Why teams use us

Support you can rely on, led by a clinician, with records you can see.

Clinical leadership

A paramedic leads safeguarding, risk and escalation, and is on call whenever our staff are working.

Records you can rely on

Every shift, incident and concern is recorded digitally, with progress summaries for the people who commission the support.

One provider, children to adults

We support children, young people and adults, from 14 to 25 and beyond, so there is no hand-off at 18.

Safer recruitment

Enhanced DBS with barred list checks on the Update Service, references, and an induction before any shift.

How it works

From referral to the first shift, with everything agreed in writing.

  2. Screen

We review every referral the same working day and come back to you with questions or next steps.

  3. Confirm in writing

We agree the support, the staff and the start date with you in writing before anything begins.

  4. Report

You get records of every shift and regular progress summaries, and we flag concerns straight away.

Common questions

Do you provide full-time education?

No. Our packages are part-time and arranged with the school or local authority, which stays responsible for the young person's education.

Who sets the learning plan?

The school, virtual school or local authority sets the plan. Our support workers deliver the sessions agreed with them and report on progress.

Can support help a young person return to school?

Yes, that is often the aim. We work with the school on a gradual return and adjust sessions as the young person settles.
